FEATURE REQUEST - Backing-up .UCS files from F5 LTM
is there a way to back-up the .ucs archive files from F5 loadbalancers ? the templates to backup the configuration file is good but doesn't serve the purpose in case one has to build a F5 box from scratch.

Help Troubleshooting failed backups
I'm having a hard time figuring out why backups fail to certain devices. I'm looking for guidance on where I can look within solarwinds (NPM 10.6, NCM 7.2) to find additional logging and or info as to why my config backups fail to certain devices. Thus far my troubleshooting steps are:
Navigate to the Cisco device node in NCM. Edit the node, then click on test button. Test is successful. I then go back into the node details and click on the Download button to start a backup of the specific node that failed in the scheduled job. Sure enough, the download button works and my config gets downloaded. So why does it work if I do it manually but fails if I run it within a job? The only output I get from job details is either 1) Timeout connecting to device, or 2) Connection refused. (The connection refused message is not possible as I can ssh to the device just fine from the remote poller using putty). So beyond my troubleshooting steps where else can I look within Solarwinds that would help me figure out why devices are timing out and or reporting connection refused?

Cisco WS-C4507R+E only shows Fan Status under Current H/W Health
As stated above. Wonder if this is a bug or is it just me. Shouldn't there be more sensors, given that SMEs would usually deploy it as a critical switch. Even a WS-C2960 has 2 sensors, a fan and a power supply. Am I missing something here?

VNQM and VOIP PRI gateways - working with cisco 3925?
Hi all,
I've recently updated to NVQM 4.1 and added all my PRI gateways into it. PRI support looks very nice (good job guys!) - however I've found that all my Cisco 3925 gateways don't seem to show any calls at all on the E1/T1 interfaces. They show up fine to be monitored just fine however just show 0 calls all the time.
eg
All my other gateways using 2811 and 3825 work fine. I guess the IOS train is slightly different on this model so maybe it's not being picked up correctly by solarwinds? Has anyone else seen this?

Group Custom Properties
I have over 75 Custom Node Properties I use in my environment. Most are just informational providing contact information, data center location, rack location, assigned engineer, etc. but much of this information is repeated for all nodes belonging to a particular customer, for example. It means having to cut and paste the same values to each node one field at a time. This ends up chewing up a whole lot of time.
A solution might be to have Group Custom Properties, Categorized Groups and a detail View for displaying related Group Custom Properties for Groups that fill into a certain category. You could then create a Group in the category "Customer" for example which would have the common Custom Properties for all the customer's nodes. You would, of course, add all the customer's nodes and possibly even the related Application Monitors to the group. Then on the node or Application Monitor Details screen you would add a View for displaying a Group Categories Custom Properties, edit the View and choose the Group Category to use.
By designing it similar to the above, you could add a new customer and as long as you use the same Group Category to provide the Group Custom Property values, the webpage should just automatically display the Group Customer properties associated.
For this truly be a good design however, you really need to have a key field between the Node Custom Properties and this Group Custom Properties in order to tie them together and avoid duplicate Groups in the same Group Category using the same key. Otherwise you would run into problems with the View being confused about which Groups Custom Properties to use.
Anyway, wanted to throw out some thoughts on how this might work better for me and see if others have ideas for a solution. Mine may not be completely honed but maybe it will help to get the creative juices flowing.

cisco device connected to other vendor
Looks like the application failed to find connectivity when a device that supports CDP or LLDP is connected to a device that does not support any of these protocols.
I suspect that the reason is that if one device support CDP then it expect that all attached device will support CDP as well.
However this is not the situation and there are lots of other devices connected to Cisco devices (Juniper, F5, checkpoint..)
So there should be an option to force bridge table based mapping for such connections

The death of SNMP
As we all know, there’s a lot of change going on in the IT industry. New technologies are claiming they’ll completely displace technologies and tools we’ve all used for years. Some of it is a natural progression. There are always new pieces of technology that supplement our current toolset. However lately, I’ve heard a lot of talk about the death of SNMP. While I can’t say that I agree with the theory, it’s an interesting topic to throw out for discussion.
Most of the custom linux scripting tools I use rely on SNMP polling. The traps we receive in our alert management console provide updates on current failures and alerts. While I can see SNMP being supplemented, I can’t see it just going away. Is there anyone out there that does? If so, what do you think will replace it? How soon will it happen? What do you guys think?

Auto pull subnets from route table
In a large environment like mine, we add subnets, or break up subnets on a daily basis. I would like to see IPAM read the route table from a list of routers and pull the smallest subnets and auto populate them into IPAM. Due to summarization, it will need to pull from a list of routers, maybe every night, and populate the DB with the highest bits (24bit, etc.)
This is the number one complaint I hear from my design team. They have to manually type all this in.
Another way to do this may be pulling the interface IP's or subnets. Then you can also pull the description off the vlan/interface. That would be real nice....
